The LA Relief Network relies on the support of volunteers like you to make a difference in the lives of those affected by the recent disasters. Volunteers are the backbone of our recovery efforts, offering their time, skills, and passion to help those in need. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to make a long-term commitment, there are many ways you can contribute to the relief effort.

Volunteer Opportunities
We have a variety of volunteer roles available, each playing an essential part in our mission to provide disaster relief and recovery:

Storage Support & Distribution

Role: Help manage donated items, including electronics, household goods, and tools.

Responsibilities: Work at our designated storage locations, helping to sort, organize, and distribute donations. Volunteers in this role will also assist with inventory management, ensuring that goods are ready to be distributed to those in need as soon as possible.

Skills Needed: Organizational skills, ability to lift and move items, and a willingness to work in a team.

Partner Outreach & Recruitment

Role: Help us expand our network of partners, including businesses, service providers, and storage facilities.

Responsibilities: Research and reach out to local companies, organizations, and individuals who can provide services, resources, or products to support the recovery efforts. Volunteers in this role will assist in creating outreach campaigns, drafting partnership letters, and securing new donations and services.
Skills Needed: Strong communication skills, research abilities, and a passion for community outreach.

Delivery Assistance

Role: Help transport donated items and supplies to the affected communities.
Responsibilities: Drive or coordinate the delivery of goods, including electronics, clothing, and other essential items, to people in need. Volunteers will ensure timely delivery to designated drop-off locations, shelters, or homes.
Skills Needed: A valid driver’s license (for delivery roles), ability to load/unload goods, and good time management skills.
Community Support & Assistance

Role: Provide direct assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by the disaster.
Responsibilities: Volunteers will assist with emotional support, help people fill out forms for aid, and provide information about available resources. This role may also involve helping with basic needs, such as providing food, clothing, and temporary shelter information.
Skills Needed: Empathy, good communication skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations with patience.
Administrative & Logistical Support

Role: Help with behind-the-scenes operations to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Responsibilities: Support administrative tasks, including data entry, scheduling, organizing paperwork, and assisting with event coordination. Logistical volunteers will help coordinate supplies and ensure that all systems are in place to manage donations, storage, and distribution effectively.
Skills Needed: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
Specialized Skills: Trades & Services

Role: Provide essential services in areas like electrical work, plumbing, gas services, and other specialized trades.
Responsibilities: Volunteer professionals with skills in electrical work, plumbing, gas line repairs, HVAC systems, and more are urgently needed. These experts will assist in helping restore basic services to homes and businesses in the affected areas, ensuring safety and livability for displaced families.
Skills Needed: Professional experience in trades such as:
Electricians: Replacing or repairing electrical systems, ensuring homes and businesses are safe.
Plumbers: Fixing broken pipes, ensuring safe water and sewage systems.
Gas Specialists: Ensuring gas lines are intact and functioning properly.
HVAC Technicians: Ensuring heating and cooling systems are operational.
Carpenters/Contractors: Assisting with temporary repairs or structural assessments.
Digital Outreach & Social Media Support

Role: Help spread the word about our efforts and connect with more people who need support.
Responsibilities: Assist with social media management, creating posts, and developing content to raise awareness of the LA Relief Network’s work. Volunteers will help engage with the community online, answering questions, and promoting upcoming events or volunteer opportunities.
Skills Needed: Social media experience, content creation, and strong communication skills.
Temporary Housing & Shelter Support

Role: Assist with the organization and management of temporary shelters for displaced individuals and families.
Responsibilities: Volunteers in this role will help coordinate shelter spaces, assist with logistics for those seeking temporary housing, and provide basic necessities such as bedding, food, and toiletries to shelter residents.
Skills Needed: Strong organizational skills, customer service skills, and a compassionate attitude.

Regional Coordinators and Volunteers Needed

As we continue to assess and support communities affected by the recent fires, we are looking for Regional Management Volunteers to help coordinate relief efforts in various affected areas. If you are familiar with the local regions and have a strong ability to organize, we need your help to ensure a smooth and effective response.

Currently Seeking Volunteers for the Following Areas:

Eaton Fire: Limited access to affected areas. We already have a volunteer assigned to Altadena and Pasadena, but additional support is needed for other parts of the region. If you're able to help manage resources or provide support in these areas, please apply.

Palisades Fire: We currently have no access to this area and are unable to assign a volunteer. If you're based in or familiar with the Palisades region, we urgently need your expertise to help lead the way.

Kenneth Fire: This area is still off-limits, and no assignments have been made yet. Volunteers who are familiar with this area or have experience in disaster recovery are encouraged to apply.

Sunset Fire: Limited access has been granted, but no volunteer assignments have been made yet. If you are available and able to help, please apply and provide any knowledge you have about the region.

Responsibilities of Regional Management Volunteers:

Coordinate between volunteers, donors, and local authorities.
Help identify areas of greatest need and ensure timely distribution of relief supplies.

Oversee local relief efforts and provide updates to central management.
Serve as a point of contact for the community in your region, offering guidance and support.
